Williams has officially confirmed a bold brand transformation for the 2026 Formula 1 season — a shift designed to mark the beginning of a new era. Starting next year, the team will race under the name Atlassian Williams F1 Team and will revive its iconic “Forward W”, the emblem that defined the most successful chapters in its history.
The refreshed identity pays tribute to Sir Frank Williams, who founded the team in 1977, and reconnects the modern operation with the heritage of one of the sport’s most storied organizations. For over two decades, the Forward W symbolized a dynasty that claimed world titles with legends like Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Jacques Villeneuve.
“I’m proud that, from next year, we’ll be known as Atlassian Williams F1 Team, with a logo deeply tied to our decades of success,” Team Principal James Vowles told Motorsport.com.
He added: “This renewed identity reflects who we are and where we’re going — reintroducing our winning legacy to a generation that never witnessed our dominant era.”
The rebrand coincides with the team’s 50th anniversary and represents a pivotal milestone in the modern era under Dorilton Capital, Williams’ ownership group since 2020. According to the team, the updated name and visual identity aim to strike a balance between tradition and technological evolution, reinforcing a long-term commitment to innovation and performance.
Since Vowles took charge, Williams has shown clear upward momentum, firmly reestablishing itself in the upper midfield. The team currently sits on 111 points, and Carlos Sainz’s podium in Azerbaijan delivered its first top-three finish since 2021.
Looking ahead to the new 2026 regulations, Williams will retain both Sainz and Alex Albon as its full-time drivers — a move that ensures continuity, stability, and valuable experience as development of the new car intensifies.
Marketing Director Marcus Prosser highlighted the intent behind the relaunch:
“With this new name and logo, our rich history is being reimagined for the future. We want to inspire a new generation of fans without losing the competitive spirit that defines us,” he told The Race.
Williams’ expanded partnership with Atlassian — the Australian software company behind tools like Jira and Confluence — strengthens the team’s technological footprint both on track and within its broader engineering ecosystem. Meanwhile, continued investment in infrastructure and simulation underscores the team’s ambition to be fully competitive under the incoming regulations. With a revitalized identity, a focused development strategy, and stable leadership, Williams is gearing up to write a new chapter — one that honors its past while pushing boldly toward the future.
