Liam Lawson progressed rapidly through the junior ranks after a successful karting career in New Zealand, moving into single-seaters in 2015 and establishing himself as part of Red Bull Junior Program. After gaining experience across FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2, Lawson complemented his European campaigns with a strong Super Formula program in Japan, where he emerged as a consistent front-runner and title contender.
In 2023, Lawson finished runner-up in Super Formula while simultaneously serving as Red Bull and AlphaTauri's reserve driver. Later that season, he made his Formula 1 debut with AlphaTauri, stepping for the injured Daniel Ricciardo and delivering assured performances under pressure. In 2025, Lawson returned as a full-time Racing Bulls driver, continuing his progression toward a permanent role at the front of Formula 1's competitive midfield.
