A championship built to develop female talent toward the highest levels of Formula racing.
Since its launch in 2023, F1 Academy has rapidly become one of Formula 1’s most influential initiatives to elevate female participation in motorsport. Far from being just a support category, it’s a comprehensive platform designed to train, prepare and accelerate the careers of young women with the potential to climb the motorsport ladder, from junior formulas up toward Formula 1 itself.
The mission is straightforward: give drivers more track time, real racing experience and structured development — physical, technical and mental — so that they can bridge the gap historically faced by women in the sport. This allows drivers to refine their competitive edge in a professional environment backed by experienced teams from feeder categories like Formula 2 and Formula 3.
F1 Academy cars race at a level comparable to Formula 4, using identical machinery that emphasizes driver skill and competitive parity.
A defining feature of the series is its role as an integrated part of the F1 support program. Academy races run on select Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends, giving drivers exposure to elite-level crowds, media and race operations in a unique advantage for young talent. The 2025 season spanned 14 races across seven rounds, visiting circuits such as Shanghai, Jeddah, Miami and Las Vegas, reinforcing the series’ global footprint and competitive reach.
Beyond racing itself, F1 Academy supports grassroots talent development with initiatives like the Champions of the Future Academy program, aimed at identifying and nurturing female karting talent worldwide, forming a pipeline that feeds into higher competition tiers.
This structured approach promotes real opportunity both on and off the track. F1 Academy not only develops drivers for higher competition, but also signals a deep commitment from Formula 1 to gender inclusion and a growing role for women at every level of motorsport.
