The Spanish-born driver, who made history as the first female member of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, is being rewarded for a strong and consistent F1 Academy campaign with a tangible opportunity to broaden her professional racing prospects beyond single-seaters.

Weug delivered an impressive 2025 season, demonstrating maturity, pace and consistency throughout the year. Those performances have earned her this key test, scheduled for December 8 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, one of the most demanding and representative tracks in international motorsport.

The test will take place in the Ferrari 296 GT3, a benchmark car in modern GT racing, with full technical support from AF Corse, Ferrari’s long-standing partner at the highest level of competition.

The announcement underlines F1 Academy’s core objective: to serve as a stepping stone rather than a final destination. The collaboration between F1 Academy, Ferrari and AF Corse sends a clear message about the quality of talent graduating from the series and the seriousness with which long-term opportunities are being built.

F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff explained the philosophy behind the initiative:

“F1 Academy is a stepping stone, not a destination. We continue to create opportunities that support our most talented drivers to progress. We are pleased to support Maya with this GT test as she explores her next steps for 2026.”
