Lando Norris took full control of the championship after a flawless weekend in São Paulo, winning both the Sprint Race and the 2025 Brazilian Grand Prix, rising to the top of the standings and putting Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen under heavy pressure.

In a weekend defined by unpredictable weather and dramatic swings in performance, Norris delivered a polished, aggressive, and surgically precise performance, taking advantage of every window the Autódromo José Carlos Pace offered.

The Sprint was the first major turning point:

  • Piastri was eliminated after a clash with Kimi Antonelli and a 10-second penalty.
  • Norris capitalized on the chaos, extending his advantage to 24 points, a potentially decisive margin.

But Sunday was his masterpiece. Norris launched with composure, mastered tire degradation with impeccable control, and held off a spectacular Kimi Antonelli, who scored his first Formula 1 podium with a remarkable second place.

The young Italian also shattered a significant benchmark: he broke Lewis Hamilton’s record for the most points scored by a rookie, with 122 points compared to Hamilton’s 109 in 2007.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen endured a turbulent weekend:

  • A crash in Q1
  • Struggles with Red Bull’s new aero package
  • Forced to start from the pit lane after an engine and floor change

Still, the four-time champion showed his trademark resilience, climbing from the back to an impressive third place, keeping his title hopes alive—though clearly at a disadvantage.

The picture is clear:
McLaren has the momentum. Norris leads with authority. Piastri must answer. Verstappen, for the first time in years, is chasing.Next up: Las Vegas, where straight-line speed could swing things back toward Mercedes and Red Bull. But today, in Brazil, the world was painted papaya orange.
